NEW YORK (Kashmir English): In a historic development, Zohran Mamdani has taken oath as first ever Muslim mayor of New York on the Holy Quran.
During a ceremony held in New York City, USA, Zohran Mamdani took the oath of office at City Hall, New York. According to foreign media, on this occasion, he took the oath on the Holy Quran and officially began his office.
At the ceremony, New York Attorney General Letitia Jim administered the oath of office to Zahran Mamdani. Zahran Mamdani’s wife was also present at the swearing-in ceremony, while this occasion emerged as an important milestone in New York’s political history.
It should be remembered that Zahran Mamdani belongs to the Democratic Party. He was successful in the mayoral elections held on November 4, 2025, where he received 50.78 percent of the vote. As a result of this success, he was elected the 112th mayor of New York.
Zahran Mamdani is the first Muslim mayor of New York. During the election process, US President Donald Trump also targeted Zahran Mamdani with racial discrimination before the election. However, after the defeat of the Republican candidate, Donald Trump not only congratulated Zahran Mamdani but also assured him of working with him for the betterment of New York.
