MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): On the occasion of Youm-e-Ilhaaq-e-Pakistan, the Prime Minister and President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) issued strong statements reaffirming Kashmiris’ unbreakable bond with Pakistan. Both leaders highlighted the significance of July 19, 1947, and pledged continued support for the Kashmir cause until complete freedom is achieved.
Love for Pakistan runs in Kashmiris’ blood: PM AJK on Youm-e-Ilhaaq-e-Pakistan
Prime Minister of AJK, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, said that love for Pakistan flows like blood in the veins of Kashmiris. In his special message for Youm-e-Ilhaaq-e-Pakistan, he emphasized that Pakistan is the center of Kashmiris’ hopes, dreams, and sacrifices.
He stated that love for the land of Pakistan is part of the Kashmiri faith, and those who laid down their lives for this cause are true national heroes. Referring to the statement of Quaid-e-Azam that “Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan,” the Prime Minister said this belief continues to guide and connect Kashmiris to Pakistan.
He added that India is fearful of the deep affection Kashmiris hold for Pakistan and has been making failed attempts to suppress their resolve through force.
Referring to July 19, 1947, he said this day is a milestone in Kashmiri history. On this day, a historic meeting of Muslim leaders was held at the residence of the founding president of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, in Srinagar’s Abi Guzar locality. In that meeting, the unanimous Resolution of Accession to Pakistan was passed, through which the Kashmiri people decided their political future and demanded the Maharaja of Kashmir to accede to Pakistan, considering the Muslim majority and the region’s geographic proximity.
He stressed that the Resolution of Accession to Pakistan holds great importance, as it was on this basis that Pakistan took the Kashmir issue to the United Nations. He further pointed out that in Jammu alone, 250,000 Kashmiris were martyred simply for loving Pakistan, but this brutality could not shake the determination of the Kashmiri people.
The Prime Minister made it clear that Youm-e-Ilhaaq-e-Pakistan is a powerful reflection of the unbreakable bond and ideological connection between the people of Kashmir and Pakistan. Even after 78 years, Kashmiris remain steadfast in their struggle. God willing, the day will come when the people of Kashmir will decide their future through their right to self-determination and achieve the goal of accession to Pakistan.
Only a strong Pakistan can guarantee Kashmir’s freedom: President AJK on Youm-e-Ilhaaq-e-Pakistan
President of AJK, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, also marked Youm-e-Ilhaaq-e-Pakistan with a powerful message, saying only a strong and stable Pakistan can truly guarantee freedom for the people of Kashmir.
He emphasized that Kashmir shares a deep geographical, ideological, religious, and cultural bond with Pakistan, and that India has no rightful connection with Kashmir. For decades, India has denied the Kashmiri people their internationally recognized and inborn right to self-determination, relying solely on the use of force. However, the Kashmiri people will never allow India’s oppressive occupation of their land to succeed.
He shared that his late father, Chaudhry Noor Hussain, was the youngest Kashmiri leader to sign the 1947 resolution. He stressed that Kashmir shares deep geographical, religious, and cultural ties with Pakistan, while India has no rightful claim.
He added that the historic decision made by Kashmir’s top leadership on July 19, 1947, gave new direction to the freedom struggle. Today, unarmed Kashmiris in Indian-occupied Kashmir are standing firm in the face of over 900,000 Indian troops and are writing a new chapter of resistance in world history.
