MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The medical health facilities worsening day by day in Azad Jammu and Kashmir due to the negligence of the health sector as another case of medical staff’s incompetence was reported in Muzaffarabad district.
As per details, a pregnant woman patient was brought to Garhi Dupatta Ruler Health Center with a complaint of severe pain, where she received an initial medical examination. According to the patient’s family member, her blood was found to be less than 7 points.
The doctor at Garhi Dupatta Hospital referred the patient to a major hospital in Muzaffarabad, citing her condition was critical. Following the doctor’s instruction, the patient’s family rushed her to Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) hospital in Muzaffarabad.
The AIMS hospital administration took a different stance, saying that the patient has no problem and discharged her after just a general examination without any satisfactory check-up.
However, the decision proved to be extremely irresponsible and dangerous as the patient started having severe labor pains on her way back. The situation deteriorated so much that the woman gave birth on the road, her husband told Kashmir Digital.
He said that the patient was taken to a nearby petrol pump where she delivered in extremely unsafe and difficult conditions. The family immediately informed the rescue team, who arrived on time, provided first aid, and referred the patient back to Muzaffarabad Hospital.
When Kashmir Digital contacted the hospital administration to take a stand on this incident, the hospital administration refused to give a statement.
The patient’s family reacted strongly to the hospital administration’s behavior and demanded that the government should take action against the hospital administration.
Several incidents have occurred at AIIMS Hospital before this, but no one responsible could ever be identified and face departmental punishment.
