NEW YORK (Kashmir English): WhatsApp is testing an interesting new feature that will let users know which contacts are currently online.

According to a report by Wabetainfo, this feature is currently being tested in a new beta version of WhatsApp for Android devices.

Currently, to check the online status of a person in WhatsApp, you have to open the chat of their name, where the online tag is written above.

Similarly, in the group header, you can see where a green dot is made next to the name, which indicates that he is online. But now it is being made like Facebook so that you can immediately see how many contacts are online at a time.

According to the report, this new feature will be similar to the active tab of Facebook Messenger, but it will be better than it. The report further states that the feature is currently in its early stages of testing.

So it is difficult to say when it will be rolled out to all beta users and beyond. But this new feature will help users a lot, and they will be able to know how many contacts are online at any given time.

New WhatsApp update brings dual accounts

Earlier, WhatsApp rolled out a range of new features that aim to make the messaging experience more convenient, flexible, and intelligent for users across the globe.

The update has brought a range of improvements to the platform, including the ability to have two accounts on an iPhone, better options to transfer chats, and better management of files and artificial intelligence to enhance the experience.

One of the biggest highlights of this feature is that users will now be able to have two accounts on their iPhone, something that was already possible on Android. This will make it easier to manage different accounts on the same device.

Another improvement to the platform is the ability to transfer chats between different devices, including iOS and Android.

WhatsApp has also introduced a range of new features to help users identify and delete large media items, manage storage space within a chat, and delete media content while preserving text messages.

Further, Meta has also introduced AI-based features in WhatsApp to enhance the “smartness” of the messaging app.

This includes features such as AI-based sticker suggestions, in-chat photo editing, and AI-based writing assistance, such as suggesting replies to messages based on a chat.

According to WhatsApp, such features will be rolled out to users across various regions in the coming weeks.
