CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): WhatsApp is currently working on a redesigned call menu feature providing users with greater flexibility in managing their calls, especially within group chats.
The redesigned call menu will include shortcut to quickly create call link for chats and groups.
The WABetaInfo has said that a call link feature within group and individual chat was available to some beta testers.
WhatsApp video, voice calls
This feature allows users to quickly create call links directly from the chat interface, making it more convenient for the users to initiate video or voice calls.
The new call link shortcut is presently accessible within the chat attachment sheet, which can be opened by tapping the attachment icon in the chat bar, WABetaInfo added.
Taking to X, WABetaInfo said that WhatsApp – Meta-owned messaging platform – apparently developing new features designed to further enhance convenience of the users, especially by improving accessibility to calling tools.
The app is in an effort to implement a feature to redesign the call option available in the top app bar within group and individual chats.
Currently, there are separate buttons: the first button lets in users to place a voice call, and the other for starting up a video call.
While a person taps on one of these buttons, the corresponding call action is immediately executed, which can sometimes result in unintentional calls.
However, WhatsApp future update plans to unify the call buttons into a single menu that will offer additional tools beyond just making video and voice calls.
This new feature will provide users with greater flexibility in managing their calls, especially within group chats.
