Weather update: Rain, snowfall continue across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): After a long drought, rains and snowfall in the upper areas have started in the border mountain valley of Azad Kashmir, resulting in a clear improvement in the overall situation.

Forest fires and air pollution due to drought have caused severe hardship to the people; however, after the recent rains, the fires have been largely controlled, while the air has also become clear.

According to the Highways Department, the Lipa Reshiyan Road is currently open for traffic; however, a precautionary advisory has been issued in view of possible snowfall.

The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain and snowfall for the next two days, which experts are calling beneficial for forests, crops, and water bodies.

Residents of the area have expressed satisfaction, calling the recent rains a blessing from nature. A large number of tourists from different parts of the country are also heading to Kashmir to see the picturesque scenes of snowfall, which is restoring the charm of the area.

Rains begin in Balochistan, and cold intensity increases

After a long wait, rains have started in Balochistan, due to which the weather has changed completely across the province, and a significant increase in the intensity of cold has been recorded. After the rain, cold winds started blowing in many areas, while a clear decrease in temperature is being felt.

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain fell in Quetta and its surroundings in the morning, which made the weather pleasant, but the cold increased. Similarly, cold winds started blowing in Chaman, Panjgur, Kalat, Loralai, Kharan, and Qila Saifullah after the rain, and citizens have started using warm clothes.

According to the Meteorological Department, more rain is expected in North Ziarat and adjacent areas from Sunday, while snowfall is expected in mountainous areas, which may further increase the intensity of the cold in the coming days.

Rain in Punjab, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi

After a drizzle in Punjab city Sargodha, the weather has become cold, and citizens have complained of the increasing cold. Rain was also recorded in various areas of the federal capital, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, with light rain in some places and heavy rain in others, which made the weather even colder. The Meteorological Department has predicted that intermittent rain will continue for the next few days.

Snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arrival of tourists

The weather has taken a turn in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Snowfall continues in the tourist destinations of Mahodand, Kalam, Malam Jabba, and Gabin Jabba of Swat Valley, due to which a severe cold wave has spread in the plains as well.

Tourists from different parts of the country are reaching the Swat Valley in large numbers to witness the picturesque views of snowfall, which is causing a rush at local hotels and tourist spots.

Rain in Haripur and Abbottabad

Rain has started in the Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after a long drought. The rain in Haripur, Khanpur tehsil, and Ghazi has made the weather pleasant, while according to farmers, this rain is beneficial for wheat and other crops. Similarly, Abbottabad and its surroundings have also recorded an increase in the intensity of cold due to light rain.

Overall, cold has increased in different parts of the country due to rain and snowfall, while the Meteorological Department and the district administration have directed citizens to take precautionary measures.
