On the special instructions of the Secretary Food Authority, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Food Authority Muzaffarabad conducted a surprise inspection of the cafeteria and hostel mess of King Abdullah University Chhatar Class.
During this, samples of water filtration plants and food items were obtained and tested through a mobile food testing lab.
According to the laboratory analysis, the water filtration plant of the cafeteria was declared satisfactory, while the water filtration plant of the hostel mess was closed, and the water sample obtained was found to be unsatisfactory.
Similarly, according to the TPC level report of the oil used in food preparation, it was found to be 36, which should have been less than the normal 24, which was destroyed on the spot.
Assistant Food Safety Officer Qazi Shafiqur-ur-Rehman, along with the food technologist and the Food Authority team, conducted a detailed inspection of the cafeteria and hostel mess.
During this, the ingredients, spices, juices, other beverages, and the quality of food handling used during food preparation in the kitchen area were carefully examined.
The labeling, quality, and expiry date of juices and beverages were also examined in detail so that safe and quality food could be provided to the students in every respect.
Overall cleanliness was also inspected. The Food Authority officials issued instructions to immediately restore the hostel mess filtration plant and to use only quality oil in the future.
On this occasion, District Food Controller Muzaffarabad/Jhelum Valley Abrar Ahmed Mir said that students are the valuable assets of our nation and the architects of the future; their health will not be compromised under any circumstances.
The Food Authority is taking all possible steps to provide quality and safe food in every educational institution, and strict legal action will be taken against those who are negligent.
He added that protecting the health of citizens is the top priority of the Food Authority. For this purpose, regular inspections of cleanliness and food items are currently underway in the canteens of all educational institutions in the city.
