LONDON (Kashmir English): Greater Manchester Police has cleared Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali in the rape case due to insufficient evidence.

The United Kingdom Police said that enough evidence was not found during the investigations against the batter to support the allegations levelled by a British-Pakistani girl.

Ali had been under investigation after a woman accused him of raping her at a Manchester hotel, which led to his arrest on August 4.

Following his arrest,  the 24-year-old cricketer was provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Police sources confirmed to a local media outlet that the woman, who accused him of rape, had been in contact with Haider Ali for two weeks prior to the alleged incident.

The woman told police she first met Ali on July 23, 2025, at a Manchester hotel, and they met again on August 1 in Ashford. She filed her complaint four days later.

Police said that the cricketer has already collected his passport from the police station and can travel from the UK at any time of his choosing.

Haider Ali, represented legally by Barrister Moeen Khan, was arrested from Kent’s Spitfire County Ground players’ office but was not handcuffed. From the beginning, he strongly denied all allegations.
