BHIMBER (Kashmir English): Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhimber has suspended two cops from service for alleged misconduct and abuse of power, while two accused have been arrested in Muhammad Akram violence case in Barnala.
According to the order, Constable Khalid Hussain and Head Constable Investigation Fazl Mehmoob, both from Barnala Police Station, were suspended for not taking timely action on the application and showing negligence.
Police said that the accused, Muhammad Shoaib, Muhammad Mikal, and a woman have been taken into custody in the case. While the search for the main accused, Kabir aka Kala, is underway.
According to the SHO Barnala PS, a complaint was filed regarding an incident on August 21, where a resident, Muhammad Akram, alleged that he was taken from his house and beaten by some individuals.
The order issued by SP Bhimber said that Constable Khalid rushed to the spot after receiving initial information and misused his powers to cuff the victim, sparking a protest from the public.
It further added that Head Constable Barnala PS, who had the registered application, failed to reach the scene on time, resulting in the violent protest and road blockage.
Considering their misuse of power and negligence on duty, both personnel have been suspended from service and transferred to the Police Lines Bhimber. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered under the supervision of PDSP Bhimber to look into the matter.
