DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Kashmir English): Security forces eliminated at least three militants, including a chief commander, in an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the Loni area of Tehsil Kalachi of Dera Ismail Khan.
The operation was carried out after security sources received intelligence reports of militants being present there.
A strong exchange of fire led to the death of the commander and two of his companions.
The forces also recovered a vast number of arms and ammunition from the killed terrorists, who had been engaged in multiple attacks on security personnel and were wanted in multiple cases.
Security authorities added that the successful operation reaffirms the determination of the forces to eliminate terrorism and make the area secure.
The security forces again expressed their determination to eliminate militancy with the public’s help.
Earlier, one policeman was martyred and three terrorists were eliminated during an operation on Darmalak mountains in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa yesterday.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat stated that ASI Ashfaq embraced martyrdom while two other policemen were injured.
The RPO added that the police will not allow the martyrs’ sacrifices to be in vain, and an operation has been launched to track and arrest the injured militants.
Funeral prayers of ASI Ashfaq were performed with complete official respect at Kohat Police Lines.
Funeral prayer was attended by RPO Abbas Majeed, Commissioner Kohat Division Mutasim Ballah Shah, DPO Dr. Zahidullah, district officers, political representatives, and police officials.
A well-armed police contingent also saluted before dispatching the martyr’s body to his native village.
