SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that peace cannot be established in South Asia until the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, urged the world’s major powers to take serious steps to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute, describing it as the main obstacle to regional peace.

The APHC emphasized that the blood of Kashmiris will not go in vain and that the people will achieve freedom from India’s illegal rule.

“The only solution acceptable to the people of Kashmir is the right to self-determination, which India has denied for the past 78 years.”

Minhas said India continues to commit grave human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and called on the United Nations and other international human rights organizations to act decisively to enforce their resolutions and protect the rights of Kashmiris.

He added that holding an impartial referendum in Jammu and Kashmir, in line with UN resolutions, remains the only fair solution, and stressed the need to create a conducive atmosphere for such a vote.

Kashmiris have endured Indian atrocities

The APHC spokesperson warned that Kashmiris have endured Indian atrocities for nearly eight decades, and failure by the United Nations to resolve the dispute could threaten peace across the world.

He appealed to the World Body to implement its resolutions so that the Kashmiri people can determine their own political future.

The spokesman noted that India’s policies in IIOJK, including demographic engineering and the revocation of Article 370, are aimed at eroding Kashmiri identity and weakening their struggle for self-determination.

The RSS-backed BJP regime is systematically pursuing settler-colonial measures to reduce the Muslim majority, reshape the region under Hindutva ideology, and integrate Jammu and Kashmir fully into India.

For Kashmiris, he added, preserving their distinct identity is crucial to sustaining their freedom movement.
