ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has issued a revised gas supply schedule for domestic consumers after the recent explosion in the main transmission line that had resulted in an initial supply disruption.
For distribution, a schedule of three times a day has been implemented by the company due to the limited capacity of the alternate line used.
Deputy Commissioner Sanaulla said that the 24-inch pipeline, which serves as a key source for delivering gas to Peshawar, Mardan, and Swat, was damaged in the blast.
To this effect, Sui Northern has begun supplying the commodity through a 16-inch diameter replacement pipeline. However, there will be a reduction in gas availability due to the smaller capacity of the alternative line.
Gas Supply Schedule
The domestic consumers will get gas within three time frames: from 5:00 am to 9:00 am, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Because of this disruption, however, the CNG stations will remain closed temporarily. In addition, General Manager of Sui Northern, Waqas Shnwari, has surmised that the blast in the pipeline was probably terrorism because a gas pipeline does not catch fire due to a leak.
It occurred in Hassan Khel, which has caused a major disruption in gas supply across many cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
