PM Shehbaz, President Zardari consult on President AJK election

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday held an important meeting regarding the election of the President of Azad Kashmir.

During the meeting, it was agreed to continue the consultation process on the appointment of the AJK President. Both leaders also agreed to further improve the working relationship.

They expressed their determination to promote mutual consultation and cooperation in the future.

The meeting came a day after President Zardari announced to nominate the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate for AJK President after the demise of former President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry.

It was agreed during a meeting held between Asif Ali Zardari and the PPP AJK Parliamentary Party.

It should be remembered that the PML-N had also expressed interest in the President of Azad Kashmir, after which the matter was raised with the PPP’s central leadership.

As per sources, President Asif Ali Zardari has possibly sought the support of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the election of the President of Azad Kashmir.

Sources said that the meeting also discussed Pakistan’s position on the Gaza Board and the overall political, economic, and security situation.

Other leaders of the PML-N and the PPP also participated in the meeting.
