ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Shaban moon 1447 AH was sighted in Pakistan today, meaning that the 1st Shaban-ul-Muazzam 1447AH will commence from January 21, and Shab-e-Barat will fall on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
According to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee notification, “the moon of Shaban 1447AH has not been sighted. Therefore, the 1″ Shaban 1447AH, shall commence from Wednesday, the 21” January, 2026
Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, presided over the moon sighting meeting in Islamabad this evening, along with central and zonal members, technical experts, and eminent scholars from all schools of thought.
Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees met at their respective headquarters for sighting of the moon.
According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, evidence of sighting of the moon of Shaban was not received from anywhere, according to which now 1st Shaban-e-Mu’azzam 1447 AH will be on January 21, while Shab-e-Barat will be celebrated on February 3, 2026.
Earlier, astronomers had predicted that the chances of seeing the Shaban crescent were extremely low on January 19, while SPARKO had also indicated the possibility of Shaban 1 falling on January 21.
