Senior Journalist Anila Shaheen passes away

PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Anila Shaheen, a senior journalist from Peshawar known for her unwavering struggle for journalists’ rights, passed away on Thursday after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

The President Peshawar Press Club announced that the funeral for the deceased will take place today (Thursday) at 3:00 p.m. in her ancestral village, Aziz Abad, on Inqalab Road at Chamkani.

The cabinet and governing body of Peshawar Press Club have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the untimely demise of Anila Shaheen. M. Riaz, President PPC, declared that “Late Anila Shaheen was a fearless, principled and professional journalist” whose “journalistic services will be remembered for a long time.”

M. Riaz conveyed his condolences by stating that Anila dedicated herself to advocating for the rights and needs of working journalists throughout her career, which included her role as General Secretary of the Khyber Union of Journalists, the official organization for working journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Anila served as a valuable representative for journalists through her active participation in key roles at the Peshawar Press Club, which serves as the primary journalist organization in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The journalist community of Peshawar has entered a state of deep mourning because Anila Shaheen passed away at an early age.
