QUETTA (Kashmir English): Security forces carried out late-night intelligence-based operations in different areas of Balochistan, killing at least 20 militants, according to official sources.
The operations were conducted by specialized commando units in Zehri and Mashkhel following reports of militant presence. Officials said 14 militants were killed in Zehri, while six others were neutralized in Mashkhel during separate engagements.
Authorities have linked the deceased militants to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which has been involved in a series of attacks in the province. Security sources described the raids as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks operating in remote regions.
Following these latest operations, officials claimed the total number of militants killed in Balochistan over the past 72 hours has risen to 197, reflecting an escalation in counterterrorism actions across the province.
Security forces stated that clearance and search operations remain underway in the affected areas to ensure no additional threats remain. Independent verification of the casualty figures was not immediately available.
Balochistan has witnessed heightened security activity in recent weeks as authorities intensify operations against armed groups blamed for attacks on security personnel and infrastructure.
