NEELUM (Kashmir English): In a significant step towards empowering the youth of Azad Kashmir, the Special Communications Organization (SCO) on Thursday opened the “freelancing hub” at Government Boys Degree College, Sharda, in Neelum Valley district.

Director General SCO Major General Omar Ahmed Shah inaugurated the center, where Sector Commander AJK SCO Colonel Yousuf Javed and Brigadier Muhammad Imran Cheema were present.

The aim of establishing the Freelancing Hub in Sub-Division Sharda is to provide opportunities to youth for development in line with modern requirements in remote and backward areas in the current digital era, the statement read.

On this occasion, the Director General SCO encouraged the students and assured them of providing all kinds of support in finding online employment opportunities.

Major General Omar Ahmed Shah said that in the current digital era, it is the need of the hour to make the youth aware of the employment opportunities available in the IT sector.

“We will take all possible steps for the development of Pakistan by equipping students with IT education.”

The SCO has set a target of establishing more than 150 SCO towers in Azad Kashmir during the next fiscal year to improve internet facilities and provide IT education to students, he stated. “By June 2026, the fastest internet facilities will be available in every village of Azad Kashmir.”

Furthermore, he added that the company has established 80 freelancing hubs in Azad Kashmir in the last one and a half years and will soon complete the target of 100 freelancing hubs.

“There are intelligent people in Neelum Valley, and hopefully, this small effort of ours will create new employment opportunities for the youth,” he added. The hub will enable students to find online employment opportunities and equip them with the skills required to succeed in the digital era.
