BAGH (Kashmir English): The elections of the Traders Association have been officially announced for Bagh, Azad Kashmir after they have been stalled for the years last 6 years.
Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Riaz Abbasi on Sunday announced that polling will be held on May 25, 2025, which drew mixed reactions from the traders. Some have welcomed the decision while others have expressed reservations.
After the announcement of the elections, some traders said that the elections would improve organizational matters and the representatives would solve the real problems of the traders.
On the other hand, some traders fear that announcing the election date before the formation of the Supreme Council can be an untransparent election process.
Taking to the media, traders said that a “pick and choose” policy is being adopted in the elections, under which specific traders can benefit.
However, some others emphasized that whoever wins the elections will have the power of the votes of the traders, and the results should be accepted with an open heart.
After the announcement of the election schedule, the candidates have started preparing for the campaign.
Meetings are ongoing between different groups and the enthusiasm for the elections is increasing among the business community. Now it remains to be seen who will gain the trust of the business community in the elections on May 25.
