MAKKAH (Kashmir English): Saudi authorities have shared a comprehensive heat protection advisory ahead of Hajj 2025 to help protect millions of pilgrims from extreme temperatures expected during the coming weeks.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in collaboration with the Hajj Awareness Centre, has launched a countrywide campaign to educate intending pilgrims on safety practices in high temperatures.
A safety guide issued by the ministry urges pilgrims to remain hydrated, avoid unnecessary sun exposure, and rest in shaded areas.
Umbrellas and head coverings are strongly recommended during peak sunlight hours.
To combat heat-related illnesses, Saudi authorities have already ensured cooling systems across key sites, including the Grand Mosque.
The pilgrims could find misting fans, shaded rest zones, and cold-water stations to minimize the impact of extreme hot weather.
Safety measures for Hajj 2025
Avoiding outdoor exposure during peak heat hours (11 AM – 4 PM)
Wearing head coverings or using umbrellas for shade
Increasing water intake to prevent dehydration
Taking frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas
Using misting zones and cooling pads to regulate body temperature
Wearing light, breathable, loose-fitting clothing
Recognising signs of heat exhaustion, such as dizziness and excessive sweating
Using wearable heat monitoring devices provided by authorities
Promptly seeking medical assistance if symptoms of heat-related illness appear
Further measures include facility of air-conditioned tents in Mina and Arafat, use of wearable sensors to detect heat stress, and improved crowd management plans.
Cold water and umbrellas would be distributed at designated relief points.
Authorities have also applied white cooling materials on roads near holy sites to reduce surface heat.
The measures are part of a broader effort to provide a safer and more comfortable environment to pilgrims.
