MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Saudi Arabia’s aid agency, King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Action Center (KSrelief), has completed the distribution of 4,000 shelter and non-food items kits to families affected by natural disasters in seven districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In Azad Kashmir, 325 NFI kits were distributed in Muzaffarabad, 542 kits in Jhelum Valley, 433 kits in Neelum, 766 kits in Kotli, 151 kits in Bhimber, 881 kits in Poonch, and 902 kits in Haveli.
According to the official statement, this humanitarian relief activity was carried out in close collaboration with the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) of Kashmir and Hayat Foundation to ensure timely, transparent, and effective delivery of relief.
The agency said that more than 28,155 people directly benefited from this initiative.
“Each relief kit included temporary shelter materials, solar panels with LED lights, warm blankets, plastic mats, kitchen utensils, water coolers, and antibacterial soap, to support long-term resilience for displaced families,” the relief center stated.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Director General SDMA, Sardar Waheed, thanked KSrelief and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their timely and generous support.
Furthermore, the Saudi Press Agency reported that the aid agency has distributed 3,874 food baskets in several flood-affected areas of Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir (Haveli, Muzaffarabad, and Poonch), Upper Dir, and Torghar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Layyah in Punjab.
A total of 27,094 vulnerable individuals benefited from the initiative, according to the Saudi state media.
In Afghanistan, 115 parcels were distributed in Omari Camp, at the Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar Province, to Afghan returnees from Pakistan, it added.
