ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The appointment of Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan as the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Tourism has been challenged before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The petition is expected to be heard tomorrow, Wednesday, before a single bench of the IHC. Advocate Dr. G.M.Chaudhry will represent the petitioner in the court.

According to the petition, the subject of “tourism” falls within the legislative domain of the Parliament(Majlis-e-Shura) and the executive authority of the Federal Government under the Constitution.

The petitioner further contends that tourism is not included in the Federal Legislative List (FLL), and therefore, the appointment of a Prime Minister’s Coordinator for the subject is unconstitutional.

The petitioner has also submitted that there is no provision for the appointment of coordinators under the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure, 1973.

The petition further stated that Yasir Ilyas is believed to have met with Israeli officials, while the Government of Pakistan has not yet recognized the State of Israel.

Moreover, the petition sought the court to immediately restrain Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan from performing his official duties and responsibilities as the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Tourism.
