KENT (Kashmir English): In a major setback for Pakistan Shaheens, off-spinner Sajid Khan has been ruled out of the ongoing England tour after suffering a thumb injury during a training session. The 31-year-old fractured his right thumb while practicing at Tonbridge School Ground in Kent, just ahead of the team’s opening one-day match in Beckenham.
Following the injury, Sajid Khan was immediately sent back to Pakistan, where he will begin treatment and rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that no replacement will be called up for the remainder of the tour.
Sajid Khan was expected to play a crucial role in the three-match 50-over series against a County Select XI scheduled from July 22 to 27, with matches set to take place in Beckenham and Hove. His absence is considered a major blow, especially considering the spin-friendly conditions in parts of England.
Pakistan Shaheens are scheduled to play three 50-over matches against the Professional County Club Select XI from July 22 to 27.
