ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has allowed re-employed pensioners to receive their pension but an amount equal to their pension would be deducted from their current salary.
A private TV channel reported that permission to receive pension during re-employment has been granted on the condition that an amount equal to their total pension be deducted from their salary.
Decision to benefit pensioners
This measure will benefit thousands of pensioners who, after retiring from one job, have succeeded in securing re-employment in 36 different state institutions, including the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat, and Election Commission of Pakistan.
Previously, the Ministry of Finance had given the re-employed individuals the option of either receiving new salary or pension, and they were prevented from receiving both simultaneously.
According to media report, the Regulation Wing of the Ministry of Finance was informed that the condition of choosing either salary or pension in case of re-employment would create difficulties for various institutions in retaining staff.
