RAWALAPINDI (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Super League (PSL X) 10th edition is going to begin on Friday, April 11, with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars taking on defending champions Islamabad United at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The six-team tournament will see 34 matches played from April 11 to May 18, with Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium hosting 13 matches, including two Eliminators and the Final, Rawalpindi 11 matches while Karachi and Multan to stage five matches each.
Karachi plan for PSL matches
The Karachi police have announced traffic and parking plan for the upcoming HBL PSL matches scheduled to be played at National Bank Cricket Arena (National Stadium) in Karachi.
Karachi’s national stadium will host matches on April 12, 15, 18, 20, and 21.
The city’s Traffic Police has ensured that Sir Shah Suleman Road remains open for traffic in both directions as the schedule progresses.
Special parking arrangements have been made for cricket fans reaching the stadium to see the matches, along with a plan to manage the expected traffic congestion around the stadium.
Parking locations and routes
For those arriving from Karsaz, vehicles should proceed via Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road, under the stadium flyover, and park at the National Coaching Centre/China ground on Sir Shah Suleman Road.
For those arriving from Millennium, vehicles should use Stadium Road (Peer Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road), turn right under the stadium flyover, and park at the National Coaching Centre/China Ground.
For those arriving from Newtown, vehicles should proceed on Stadium Road, turn left after Aga Khan Hospital, and park at the National Coaching Centre/China Ground on Sir Shah Suleman Road.
Heavy traffic restrictions
Heavy traffic will not be allowed on the routes as Sohrab Goth to NIPA, Liaquatabad No. 10 to Hassan Square, PPP Chowrangi to University Road, Karsaz to the Stadium, Millennium to New Town, and Stadium Signal to Hassan Square.
Public advisory
The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and traffic police to avoid inconvenience.
They have been advised not to park vehicles or motorcycles on any service road or main road. Fans have been requested to park their vehicles in the designated parking areas.
The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has also released a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of the PSL Season 10 matches scheduled at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
According to the officials, alternative routes and diversions would help ensure smooth traffic flow during match days.
The plan includes designated parking areas, closed roads, and entry restrictions in areas surrounding the stadium.
Rawalpindi is set to host the PSL matches on April 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 19, and May 7, 8, 10, and 13.
Traffic diversions
Diversions and road closures will be enforced during teams’ movement between Islamabad’s Serena Hotel and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, as well as throughout match hours.
As far as Club Road is concerned, traffic will be redirected towards Srinagar Highway through Serena Chowk.
Murree Road (Faizabad to Double Road section will be completely closed on April 13 and May 17 during team movement (5 PM departure, 11 PM return). On days with two matches, extended restrictions will apply from 11 AM to 11 PM.
Vehicles moving from Islamabad to Rawalpindi will be diverted from Faizabad to the Expressway.
Traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be rerouted via 6th Road Chowk to Saidpur Road.
The 9th Avenue travelers will be diverted to IJP Road.
Stadium Road will remain closed between 9th Avenue Chowk and Double Road during match hours.
Metro Bus service
While the Metro Bus service will remain operational, three key stations—Rehmanabad, Khatam-e-Nabuwat, and Faizabad—will be temporarily closed during match timings due to security concerns.
Commuters, especially fans heading to the stadium, have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
