RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi district has announced a one-day public holiday in view of the worsening weather conditions in Rawalpindi. The official notification was issued early Thursday morning, citing safety concerns for the public.
Heavy rains and unstable weather patterns have caused disruptions across Rawalpindi district, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures. The holiday is intended to keep citizens safe and reduce unnecessary travel during the ongoing bad weather.
Continuous rainfall has been recorded across Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with the twin cities receiving a total of 168 millimeters of rain, according to the Meteorological Department.
Since June 26, monsoon rains have continued across Pakistan, bringing widespread downpours with intensity ranging from light showers to torrential rains. According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall this season has been recorded at 80 percent above normal levels.
Emergency services have been alerted, and local administration is closely monitoring the situation.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the public to cooperate and follow safety guidelines during this time.
