Rain, snowfall expected in Azad Kashmir, other parts of country over weekend

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted rain-thunderstorm and snowfall over the hills in the western and northern parts of the country, including Azad Kashmir, from December 13 and 15.

In a statement, the Met Office said that “a shallow western disturbance is likely to approach western parts of the country on the night of December 12.”

Under the influence of the weather system, light to moderate rain-thunderstorm with snowfall is expected in Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from December 13 to 15 with occasional gaps.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with light rain/snowfall are expected in Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Sherani, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, and Noushki on 14th / 15th December,” the statement added.

Furthermore, the Met Office forecasted drizzle in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Potohar region, and light rain/light snow in Murree & Galliyat on Sunday and Monday.

Moderate or dense foggy conditions are likely to develop over plain areas of Punjab, KP, and upper Sindh from the night of December 12 to 16.

The Met Office predicted that “another western disturbance is likely to influence western and upper parts of the country from December 19th”.
