MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English):  The ongoing snow, rain, disrupts travel, internet services in Azad Kashmir, resulting in severe travel impediments affecting mostly the Neelum and Leepa valleys after roadways became completely blocked and isolated many people.

Link roads remain obstructed after heavy snowfall triggered heavy landslides combined with numerous avalanches, which restricts inhabitants from moving freely. Rescue teams from authorities are engaging in clearing away various blocked routes while they work to reopen the restricted areas. The persistent weather conditions are producing ongoing demanding obstacles.

Pakistan Meteorological Department confirms the ongoing shallow westerly wave controls the region by creating hills to experience rain and wind and thunderstorms and snowfalls. Several weather reports indicate rainfall combined with snowfall will maintain their presence across Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan together with northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts until Wednesday despite challenges.

The temperatures in Muzaffarabad reached 57F while high humidity created an uncomfortable cold condition. The continuous blizzard conditions have transformed daily routines into arduous tasks for all residents but most particularly affect those living outside major cities.

Today, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) experienced rain early, then remained cloudy with showers in the afternoon. Thunder was also possible. A high of 64F with N winds at 5 to 10 mph was observed. The chance of rain was at 90 per cent. As for the night, scattered thunderstorms early, then variable clouds overnight with more showers at times, can be expected. A low of 49F with light and variable winds along with a 60 per cent chance of rain is also expected.

The harsh weather conditions continue to evolve and people need to protect themselves by following instructions from local emergency teams and government departments.
