LAHORE (Kashmir English): Punjab government has blacklisted the supplier after the private company it failed to supply sufficient hepatitis vaccine doses for newborns.
The province is facing a severe shortage of vaccine after the company failed to deliver the required doses.
Vaccine shortage hits newborns
According to official documents, the Punjab Health Department had placed an order for three million doses of the hepatitis vaccine last year.
The company, however, could supply only 524,000 doses, leaving a massive gap that resulted in critical shortages for newborns across the province.
Letters from the Health Department tell that the company was repeatedly instructed to ensure the remaining supply. Despite multiple reminders, the company failed to meet its commitment.
According to reports, the company attributed the delay to technical malfunctions at its vaccine manufacturing plant is in India.
According to the documents, Punjab’s Director General Health issued an order blacklisting the company due to company’s failure in supplying the vaccines doses.
Punjab’s DG Health issued an order blacklisting the company, also barring the firm from participating in any tender process for the next three years.
