MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir Engish): As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continues to stage protests countrywide over the allegedly rigged February 8 election, the party failed to gather protestors in major cities of Azad Kashmir.
Kashmir Digital correspondent from Bagh reported that PTI district leadership failed to gather workers and only a few of them participated in the demonstration, organised outside Press Complex.
In the 2021 general elections in Azad Kashmir, former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was elected from Bthe agh Central constituency, and Sardar Mir Akbar from Sharqi constituency on PTI tickets.
However, the representative in the Legislative Assembly failed to stage a power show.
The few protestors were addressed by PTI District Bagh President Sardar Tahir Akbar, General Secretary Raja Masood-ur-Rehman Advocate, and other leaders, who demanded the release of party founder Imran Khan.
Similarly, our correspondent from Miurpur said PTI officials are nowhere to be seen in the city for the protest on February 8, which the party termed as the Black Day.
No major protests were seen in the central places of the Mirpur.
The opposition party also failed to record a massive protest in Haveli district A very small number of supporters were seen in the protest, our reporter said.
Similarly, citizens also rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest call in Bhimber district.
In the Sudhanoti district, the party leadership could not mobilise enough protestors. A few party workers staged the protest, which was led by Vice President Poonch Division Sardar Babar Razaq and District President Sardar Asghar Khan.
“We rejected the fake government formed on Form 47,” speakers addressed the demonstration.
The protestors demanded the immediate release of former prime minister Imran Khan and wanted the return of the snatched mandate.
“We will continue the struggle until the mandate is returned and our leader Imran Khan is released,” the protesters said.
The PTI leadership in Upper Neelum Valley also failed on the call of the founder PTI to organise the major demonstration.
The police arrested the party’s leadership and frontline workers late last night, causing the hopes of PTI to hold a protest.
Baton-charge in Muzaffarabad
The police in Azad Kashmir’s capital Muzaffarabad baton-charged and used shelling to disperse PTI protesters at Domail Chowk. Several workers were injured and arrested.
As per details, the police tried to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir President Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi but failed in the process due to the intervention by party workers.
Furthermore, police managed to arrest PTI AJK vice president Syed Zeeshan Haider and Member District Council Jhelum Valley Asif Mughal.
According to the police, 12 workers have also been detained during the operation.
On the other hand, PTI workers have condemned the arrests, and the PTI Azad Kashmir President called for a statewide protest against the arrests of party leaders and violence against workers in Kashmir ahead of today’s protest.
