PTA confirms uninterrupted internet services on January 15

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) clarifies that the internet services will remain fully functional on January 15.

According to a statement, “The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) clarifies that information regarding any disruption of internet services on 15 January is incorrect and without factual basis.”

The statement reads that “Internet services across Pakistan remain stable and fully operational. Routine submarine cable maintenance is ongoing and will not affect internet service.”

PTA continues to monitor networks to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.

Earlier, based on reports, it was anticipated that internet services in Pakistan would be interrupted on January 15, because one of the country’s submarine cables is going to be maintained.

In an email sent to its customers, Nayatel said, “An unavoidable maintenance activity is planned on one of Pakistan’s submarine cables on January 15, 2026, at around 2 PM, which can last up to 8 hours.”

Nayatel went on to say that this might lead to slow internet connectivity all over Pakistan and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. The company did not specify the precise place of any leak that might have been there on any of the submarine cables.

In case it occurs, this will be another instance of internet services getting degraded for the second time in a span of just two weeks.

‘The very first day of the new year 2026 saw reported internet outages owing to a technical glitch in one of Pakistan’s upstream providers. During the entire period, internet access was obstructed in the country for more than two days.
