PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi on Friday said that it is our national duty to protect every inch of Pakistan and that no compromise will be made on the security of border areas.

In a statement issued from CM Secretariat, he termed the current tension on the Pak-Afghan border as worrying, saying the government is closely monitoring the situation.

He strongly condemned any provocation or external aggression along the border, reiterating that national security remains the top priority.

The Chief Minister said the provincial government is in constant contact with relevant institutions in light of the ongoing tensions.

He added that the protection of people living in border districts is the government’s foremost responsibility.

He further stated that necessary steps are being taken to safeguard the lives and property of residents in border areas, and acknowledged public concerns arising from the situation. He assured that people in border regions will not be left alone under any circumstances.

Sohail Afridi also directed the administration to remain alert to deal with any emergency and said that responsible behaviour is essential for peace and stability in the region.
