ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): As Pakistan moves towards the digital era, like e-challans, scammers and hackers have found a new way to lure Pakistanis into fraud.
Regarding this, the City Traffic authorities have issued a stern warning to all residents that official e-Challan messages exist only to be sent through the 9915 number.
The e-Challan SMS you receive from any other number should make you suspicious because it might be a counterfeit message. You should call 15 without delay to handle all emergency and verification needs.
The authorities present this public statement to the audience: Your awareness is your protection. People should confirm message authenticity while keeping their personal details private and refusing to use unofficial payment methods.
How it Works
- Scammers send mass SMS messages from unregistered mobile numbers.
- The link redirects to a fake payment page that collects CNIC, vehicle, or card details.
- Once submitted, your private data or bank credentials are stolen.
How to Avoid It
- Never click links from unknown senders.
- Verify challans only through official portals such as e-challan.pk or echallan.psca.gop.pk.
- Real government websites always end in “.gop.pk.”
- Use the verified Punjab Police or CTPL mobile app for authentic checks.
Fake E-Challan Websites and Apps
What It Is
Fraudsters build look-alike websites or Android apps resembling government platforms. These clones are designed to steal sensitive data such as vehicle registration numbers or debit-card information.
How It Works
- When users search “check E-Challan online,” search results may show sponsored fake sites.
- These sites often display official logos to appear genuine.
- After you enter your details, scammers store them for identity theft or fake transactions.
How to Avoid It
- Only trust sites ending in “.gop.pk” or e-challan.pk.
- Avoid downloading any “E-Challan” app unless published by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
- Make payments only through official bank apps, JazzCash, or Easypaisa.
