PRO to AJK Minister sentenced to 14 years for kidnapping 9th grader

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The PRO to Forest Minister Akmal Sargala has been sentenced to 14 years in prison along with a fine of Rs300,000 for kidnapping a 9th-grade student.

Additional Session Judge Aftab Tariq Mir found him guilty under Section 337/1 of the CrPC.

Court trial involving a student

According to details, Court Judge Aftab Tariq Mir sentenced the accused Rafi, a PRO in the Ministry of Forests, after the completion of the trial of the accused.

The case was registered on the complaint of Javed Ahmed, and the decision was announced on Monday. The court, however, acquitted two accused.

According to sources, the accused had gone into hiding before the completion of the trial. He had been appointed as PRO a few months ago to Forest Minister Akmal Sargala.

Chaudhry Shaukat Advocate and Sardar Kifayat Ali Advocate appeared on behalf of the acquitted accused, while Ejaz Ahmed and Raja Zulqarnain Advocate represented the complainant.
