ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has formally ratified the “Azad Jammu and Kashmir University of Haveli Act, 2025“, terming it a significant milestone for the promotion of higher education across the state.
In his message to the people of Haveli, the President said he was pleased to have fulfilled the promise he made to them, the PID statement reads.
“I have issued instructions to the concerned institutions for the establishment of Haveli University,” he said, adding that all available resources would be utilized to begin educational activities at the university soon.
Extending his heartfelt felicitations to the people of Haveli, the President expressed hope that the new university would play a vital role in advancing higher education in the region.
Earlier on August 5, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly unanimously passed the University of Haveli Act, 2025, paving the way for the establishment of a university in Haveli district.
The bill was presented by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mian Abdul Waheed and approved by the House during a special session on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsaal.
This decision is the fulfillment of the long-held dream of the people of Haveli and a significant step forward in the field of education. The University of Haveli will provide higher education opportunities to the people of the region.
