BAGH (Kashmir English): President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has expressed the optimism that the legal fraternity would continue to play its role in dispensation of justice to the ordinary citizens.
A delegation of District Bar Association Bagh, headed by its President Azam Haider, called on President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the President highlighted the lawyers’ pivotal role in establishing rule of law in the state.
Acknowledging the lawyers vital role in upholding the rule of law, ensuring access to justice and protecting human rights, the President maintained that the legal community can also play effective role in promoting Kashmir cause and expose the ongoing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir, by using digital media.
The delegation comprised of Secretary General District Bar Association Bagh Shujaat Advocate, Vice President District Bar Association Bagh Chaudhry Haq Nawaz Advocate, Basharat Badshah Advocate and others.
Citizen Forum delegation also calls on President
Separately, a Citizen Forum delegation from Bagh called on the President. Speaking on the occasion, he said that development and public welfare has been his foremost priorities.
Speaking on the occasion, the President regrettably noted that Bagh was deliberately kept backward by the previous governments.
Referring to Bagh-centric initiatives he took during his tenure as the prime minister, Barrister Chaudhry said that in addition to establishment of Bagh Development Authority, the Municipal Corporation status to the city was granted during the same period.
Similarly, the President said that he announced education package for Bagh.
He assured the visiting delegation that he would also talk to the government for early completion of the ongoing projects in the district.
