MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, on Saturday, reviewed the preparations of the Overseas Kashmiris Convention, which is scheduled to take place in Muzaffarabad from February 15 to 17, 2026.
The convention, being organised in collaboration between the Government of AJK and the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, will see panel discussions and dialogues on the problems and difficulties faced by Overseas Kashmiris, investment opportunities in Azad Kashmir, and other important issues.
On the occasion, Overseas Kashmiris will be able to present their legitimate grievances and suggestions to the government.
During the high-level meeting today, the Chief Secretary of AJK Khushal Khan gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister on the preparations made so far for the Overseas Convention, while other officials also presented their suggestions to make the Convention effective and meaningful.
Addressing the meeting, Rathore said that Overseas Kashmiris are a valuable asset of Azad Kashmir and their role is very important in the construction and development of the state.
He said that the Overseas Convention aims to involve the overseas Kashmiris in the state development process, listen to their problems, and provide them with better investment opportunities.
The Prime Minister directed that all the arrangements for the convention should be completed in a timely, coordinated, and high-quality manner so that the guests can have a pleasant and memorable experience.
“The government of AJK is taking all possible steps to resolve the problems of the overseas Kashmiris and further strengthen their confidence,” he stated, issuing instructions to the relevant departments to make mutual communication more effective and finalize the preparations for the convention.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Khushal Khan, Secretary Information and Information Technology Muhammad Rashid Hanif, Secretary Government Adnan Khurshid, Advisor to Chairman Overseas Foundation Ijaz Raza, Abid Hussain, Mujahid Hussain, Liaquat Ali, Shoaib Mahmood, Zafar Khan, Abdul Ghaffar, Barrister Umar Ali, and Waqas Ahmed.
Overseas Kashmiris Convention
About 300 Overseas Kashmiris are expected to participate in this convention, while representatives of the chamber, investors, and civil society from all over Pakistan will attend. This convention will prove to be an important step towards overseas investment in Azad Kashmir.
According to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir’s vision, the inauguration of an overseas complaints portal during the convention is expected, while other measures, including the establishment of a separate court to resolve the problems of overseas Kashmiris through legislation, are also expected.
The government said that overseas Kashmiris are a valuable asset of the state and all possible steps are being taken to resolve their problems.
