HAVELI KAHUTA (Kashmir English): The Polio Vaccination Campaign Haveli will officially begin on May 26, as part of the nationwide effort to eradicate polio. The campaign, which will continue until May 30, aims to immunise more than 28,000 children in the district.
The campaign was inaugurated by District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Jawad Afzal Kayani at a ceremony organised by the Department of Health.
Several key health officials were present at the event, including Assistant Director Public Health Abdul Rehman, DSV Muhammad Farooq Mir, and Civil Medical Officer Dr Saqlain Sajid.
Additionally, Health Education Officer Musab Jaleel, along with staff from the District Health Office, UC MOs, area in-charges, field workers, and representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) were also present.
During the launch, people in charge stressed the importance and positive effects of the campaign. Dr Kayani explained that 156 mobile teams have been set up to ensure drops are delivered to individuals at their doorsteps.
In addition, 16 access points will manage children travelling through the region and 21 regularly placed centres will give polio drops at local health centres.
He further added, “The full cooperation and coordination of the district administration under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Haveli is crucial for the success of this campaign.”
Public support is being strongly encouraged. Families have been urged to cooperate fully with health teams to ensure the Polio Vaccination Campaign Haveli achieves its national goal of complete eradication.
Parents should take their children to a health centre close by if the team could not reach their home or the child was not vaccinated.
In addition, the health department aims to show people that immunizations play a key role in safeguarding children from diseases other than polio.
With the campaign in full motion, the local administration and health workers remain committed to ensuring every child in the district receives the vital vaccine.
