MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has officially approved the upgrade of Police Post Sangri (Moil) to a full police station in Barnala Tehsil, District Bhimber. The decision was confirmed through a notification issued by the Department of Interior on June 13, 2025.
As per the notification, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir gave permission to the upgrade to enhance the law enforcement and security in the area. This will be a good gesture towards enhancing the administrative and policing framework in District Bhimber.
Local authorities hope that such change will positively affect the response time and the overall efficiency of the police in this area. Having a fully operational police station, the population of District Bhimber particular of Barnala town and its surroundings is now likely to have an improved access to the law enforcement services.
This is confirmed by the notification signed by the Section Officer Muhammad Wajid Iqbal that the new police station will now function as an independent police station under the normal procedure of police station. The notice was also distributed to the copy to the top government officials, IGP, Commissioner Mirpur Division, SSP Bhimber, and others so that they may implement it.
Provision of a complete police station at District Bhimber is an indication that the government is determined to ensure law and order and to meet the security challenges of the increasing population. It is also likely to cause relief to the residents who otherwise had to go further distances to find complete police facilities.
