JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): During a surprise inspection of the market, Naib Tehsildar Ayaz Chughtai, in the presence of a police party, launched a crackdown on exorbitant prices for meat in Hattian Bazaar, Jhelum Valley District.

It was discovered that they were selling beef at Rs 850 per kg (boneless) and small meat at Rs 1300 per kg. The official rates were much lower than this, and the authorities took action/science by arresting the two butchers and filing charges against them.

During the market enforcement, Naib Tehsildar Ayaz Chughtai assured the general public that the administration would regulate the supply of food items based on official rates and that it would closely monitor food prices for price hikes.
