KOTLI (Kashmir English): In a groundbreaking move, the Kotli police have arrested the accused of raping and killing 6-year-old Tasmia four days ago in Azad Kashmir.
According to the police, the accused has been arrested in Faisalabad. During a press conference, the SSP Kotli Adeel Ahmed Langrial said that the accused had fled to Faisalabad after committing the crime, and was traced technically.
During the interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. According to SSP Kotli, the accused was an employee of the neighbors, hired for livestock, and was a resident of Faisalabad.
On the identification of the accused, the girl’s shoes and other items were also recovered. SSP Kotli says that this investigation cannot be concluded until the medical report comes; further investigation is also underway.
SP Kotli says that two DSPs and 4 SHOs were investigating to trace the blind murder case. Further investigation is underway; whatever information comes to light will be shared with the media.
Earlier, the Azad Kashmir Police arrested a man for allegedly sexually abusing a minor student of a madrasa in Darlia Gujran village of Kotli district.
According to the police statement, Zahid, a resident of Sahansa, was taken into custody after the incident was reported in the jurisdiction of Nar Police Station.
The arrest was made by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sadar Kotli, Mohammad Shahzad Chaudhry, following swift action.
Police said that an investigation has been launched against the accused, and further legal proceedings are underway.
