PM Shehbaz Sharif to attend UN General Assembly session: FO

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will represent Pakistan at the 80th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York from September 22 to 26, 2025.

According to a statement by the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, federal ministers and senior officials.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister will draw the attention of the international community to the situation of prolonged occupation and denial of the right to self-determination in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.

He will especially highlight the ongoing serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza and emphasize decisive measures to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Prime Minister will also present Pakistan’s position on other important global issues such as climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development, including the regional security situation.

The Prime Minister will attend several important events on the occasion of the General Assembly session, including the Security Council meeting, the High-Level Meeting of the Global Development Initiative, and a special session on environmental action.

He will also attend a meeting with US President Donald Trump and the heads of several Islamic countries to discuss regional and global peace and security issues.

The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders and senior UN officials to discuss issues of mutual interest.

He will highlight Pakistan’s role as a member of the Security Council and reiterate his commitment to continue working with all member states to implement the UN Charter, prevent conflicts, establish peace, and promote global prosperity.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the Prime Minister’s participation will reflect Pakistan’s strong commitment to the multilateral system and the UN and highlight Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to global peace and development.
