‘Pir Panjal Medical Center’ inaugurated in Thotha model village for J&K refugees

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Speaker Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar has inaugurated the “Pir Panjal Medical Center” in Thotha Model Village in Muzaffarabad.

The medical center, under the supervision of the Kashmir Development Foundation, aims to provide the best medical facilities to the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir. It was inaugurated on the occasion of the death anniversary of young Kashmiri leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

The medical center will have doctors, lady health visitors, and staff available round the clock, providing free medical treatment facilities to around 8,000 to 10,000 people of Thotha Model Village.

The center also has laboratory and pharmacy facilities, ensuring comprehensive healthcare services to the community.

Thotha Model Village has 470 houses constructed for the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir in 1989, in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan and the Kashmir Development Foundation.

The construction of another 185 houses is currently underway. Additionally, projects providing education facilities, skill centers, clean drinking water, and other necessities of life have been completed.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Latif Akbar emphasized the eternal relationship between the people of Azad Kashmir and the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated that the refugees have an unforgettable role in the Kashmir freedom movement and that India must implement the United Nations Security Council resolutions to resolve the Kashmir issue.

Chaudhry Latif paid tribute to the brave armed forces, particularly Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their success in Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos and the recent war against India.

He also mentioned that the government has taken practical steps to include all refugee families in the Benazir Income Support Program.

Minister for Rehabilitation Javed Iqbal Badhanvi, who was also present on the occasion, assured that the government is committed to solving the problems of all refugees in Jammu and Kashmir, including those in Model Village Thotha.

He emphasized that the government will prioritize the refugees’ issues and work with their organizations to find solutions.

Representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir refugees, including President Camp Raja Muhammad Arif and CEO JIGSAW Nisar Abid, appreciated the establishment of the Pir Panjal Medical Center and thanked the organizers. They expressed their determination to continue the struggle for the Kashmir freedom movement.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the elevation of the ranks of all Kashmiri martyrs, including Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani, and for the success of the Kashmir freedom movement.
