LAHORE (Kashmir English): 2025 could prove to be the year that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) became enamoured with hosting T20I tri-series, following the board’s confirmation that it will host another three-nation contest in November.
The tri-series will take place between 17 and 29 November and will involve Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, which is a milestone event for the hosts: it will be the first time Pakistan hosts a T20I tri-nation series locally.
The tournament is regarded as perfect preparation for all three sides before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka and India.
The series starts on 17 November in Rawalpindi, where Pakistan hosts Afghanistan in what will be the visitors’ inaugural T20I on Pakistani soil. Afghanistan has already hosted five ODIs on the country’s soil, their last being against Australia in February during the ICC Champions Trophy, but this will be a new experience for them.
Rawalpindi will also host the Sri Lanka–Afghanistan showdown on 19 November, before the competition shifts to Lahore. The legendary Gaddafi Stadium will host the remaining five matches, culminating in the big final on 29 November.
The tri-series comes on the heels of a congested October–November home schedule, with Pakistan also hosting South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs between 12 October and 8 November.
Two grounds, three opponents, seven dress rehearsals for the 2026 World Cup, Pakistan’s cricketing runway is ready for takeoff.
