Muzaffarabad: The Prime Minister (PM) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, stated on Tuesday that Pakistan has consistently supported the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and has been a steadfast advocate for them on international platforms.

The PM of AJK stated in an interview with a private television channel that Kashmiris have the right to defend their rights, which India has long denied them.

He stressed that Kashmiris have the right to struggle for their rights, which India has denied them for decades. He said that Pakistan will never compromise on important national interests, such as its nuclear program and the Kashmir issue, and commended the country’s courageous support of the cause.

Regarding Pakistan’s purported meddling in occupied Kashmir, PM Haq stated that India has a history of spreading false information about Pakistan and its institutions. Haq denied the claims of Pakistani meddling in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and dubbed it ‘malicious propaganda’ by India.

He referenced Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir’s policy statement on Kashmir, saying that the Army Chief’s reaffirmation of Pakistan’s principled position and ongoing support for the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris had dispelled any doubts about the issue that India’s action on August 5, 2019, had caused.

The PM of AJK also drew attention to the global war of narratives, charging Indian organisations with spreading a war narrative in Azad Kashmir to erode ties between the region and Pakistan. However, he also reassured them that Azad Kashmiris are aware of India’s tactics and are steadfast in their beliefs.

He further added regarding the success of ongoing developmental projects. He stated that work was in progress on the Jagran Power Project and the Rathua Haryam Project, two continuing development initiatives in Azad Kashmir.

He stated that the projects would shortly be finished. He called the opening of the first Danish school in Bhimber a tremendous accomplishment and claimed that the cutting-edge project was a surefire way to have a bright future. In response to a query, he stated that the kalima served as the foundation for the Azad Kashmiri people’s connection with the Pakistani state.

He claimed that the current administration has resumed construction to finish the remaining portions of the Rathoa-Haryam Bridge, which had been unfinished for the previous 17 years. He stated, “Actions have been taken in cooperation with the federal government to prevent the Neelum-Jhelum Hydel Power Project’s climatic effects on the region’s environment.” In response to another question, he stated that Kashmiris are permitted by international law to engage with India in an armed struggle.
