KARACHI (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s Naseer Soomro, one of the tallest men in the world, passed away in Sindh’s Shikarpur district on Monday at the age of 55.
Seven feet and nine inches tall
The confirmation to this effect came from his brother Riaz on Tuesday. According to Riaz, Naseer – seven feet and nine inches tall – had been suffering from a lung disease for the past several weeks and was undergoing treatment at home.
His funeral prayers were offered in Shah Muhalla, Shikarpur on Tuesday.
Naseer was considered one of the tallest people across the globe. Naseer got employed by the national airline just due to his tall stature.
His extraordinary height drew attention to Pakistan from all over the world.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement, also expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Naseer Soomro.
He prayed for the elevation of the departed soul’s ranks and for strength and patience for the bereaved family.
“In this moment of grief, the entire nation stands in solidarity with Naseer Soomro’s family,” Premier Shehbaz said. “May Allah grant patience to the family of the late Naseer Soomro. Ameen.”
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with several other leaders from across various political parties and elected representatives from Shikarpur also expressed grief over the demise of the country’s tallest man.
