Pakistan’s leading Scholar Dr. Arfa Syeda passes away

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a tragic news, Pakistan’s renowned educationist, scholar and human rights activist Dr. Arfa Syeda has passed away.

Dr. Arfa Syeda was considered one of the country’s top intellectuals and rendered valuable services in the field of education and literature in the country. Dr. Arfa Syeda has always been at the forefront of human rights protection.

Known for her contributions to education, women’s rights, and public discourse. Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Hawaiʻi after studying at Lahore College for Women University and Government College University, Lahore.

She has served as Principal of Lahore College for Women and Government College for Women, Gulberg, and now holds the status of Professor Emeritus at Forman Christian College.

Dr Zehra had specialized in Urdu literature and intellectual history and was an avid advocate for education reforms, cultural heritage, and ethical public values. She also held a UNESCO Chair in Cultural Heritage, emphasizing the preservation of Pakistan’s intellectual and literary traditions.

Public service and advocacy

She was a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Education and National Cohesion and headed the National Commission on the Status of Women.

The late Dr Zehra was also known for many courageous and bold statements on different occasions, always encouraging the public to reflect upon social justice, women’s rights, and historical awareness.

Her work ranged beyond academia into social reform, furthering women’s empowerment and ethical governance. She inspired generations with her public engagements, lectures, and writings on valuing education and civic responsibility.

Fans and students from all over the world have been sending mournings to the family and friends of late Dr.Arfa.
