LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday unveiled the official jersey of the national cricket team for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 during the opening ceremony of the newly revamped Gaddafi Stadium.
During the inauguration ceremony, the much-anticipated kit was revealed by Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the tournament.
Sharing the photos of the squad on X, the PCB wrote, “Our squad in Pakistan’s official ICC Champions Trophy 2025 jersey. How good does it look on them.”
A minute-long promo was also released to unveil the jersey. The video featured white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, alongside women’s cricketers Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana.
Defending champions Pakistan will begin its Champions Trophy campaign at the newly revamped National Bank Stadium in Karachi during the curtain-raiser against New Zealand on February 19. The national team will then travel to Dubai to clash with India on February 23.
The last fixture of the group stage will be against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on February 27.
The eight-team tournament, comprising 15 matches, will be played across three venues in Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai from February 19 to March 9.
The eight teams are divided into two groups. Group A features Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B comprises Afghanistan, South Africa, England and Australia.
Gaddafi Stadium inaugurated
As the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 approaches, the host country has paced its preparation. The newly re-constructed Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi have been completed and are set to host the tri-nation series and Champions Trophy.
In this regard, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium, marking a new chapter in the iconic venue’s 65-year history.
PM Shehbaz appreciated Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, contractors, and workers for completing renovation work of Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium in an “almost impossible” record period of 117 days.
A special ceremony was organised for the occasion, where music, dance, and fireworks were shown for a memorable experience for cricket fans and spectators.
Renowned singers Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig thrilled the audience with musical performances, followed by a spectacular drum and fireworks display. A unique light show further enhanced the unique experience.
