ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A complete lunar eclipse, also known as a blood moon, will be visible in various parts of the world, including Pakistan, on the night between September 7 and 8, 2025.

According to the Meteorological Department, this eclipse will also be clearly visible in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, the western part of North America, the eastern part of South America, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Arctic, and Antarctica.

Eclipse Time Schedule

According to Pakistani time, the eclipse will be as follows:

  • Penumbral eclipse begins at 8:28 pm (September 7)
  • Partial eclipse begins at 9:27 pm (September 7)
  • Total eclipse begins at 10:31 pm (September 7)
  • Apogee (maximum eclipse): 11:12 pm (September 7)
  • Total eclipse ends at 11:53 pm (September 7)
  • Partial eclipse ends at 12:57 pm (September 8)
  • Penumbral eclipse ends at 1:55 am (September 8)

According to astronomers, this will be a spectacular and total lunar eclipse that will be visible to the naked eye in Pakistan if the weather is clear.

Although planets and moons exist throughout the solar system, only Earth gets to witness total lunar eclipses because its shadow is big enough to fully cover the Moon.

But this won’t last forever. The Moon is slowly moving away from Earth at a rate of about 1.6 inches (4 cm) per year. NASA says there are around two to four lunar eclipses annually, each visible from roughly half the planet.
