ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Muslims of Pakistan are set to observe Shab-e-Barat today through their dedicated religious practices. The mosques conduct special nighttime services, which include prayers and voluntary worship activities.

The security forces have established stringent security protocols to protect public safety. The authorities have closed educational facilities in multiple provinces for the entire day.

The night of Shab-e-Barat, which Muslims refer to as Laylat-ul-Mubarakah and Laylat-ul-Rahmat, offers people two methods to obtain forgiveness and receive divine mercy while escaping hellfire.

The devotees perform their non-obligatory prayers (Nafl) together with their confession of past sins and their dedication to follow a holy existence.

Visitors to the graves of their deceased relatives perform prayers and Quran recitations. Some people choose to do voluntary fasting during the sacred night to show their respect.

The main cities of Lahore and other cities display their Data Darbar and Badshahi Mosque landmarks through multicolored lights. The authorities station police officers together with elite security units at high-risk mosques and religious sites to protect public safety.

Ziaul Hassan Lanjhar, who serves as Sindh Interior Minister, has ordered provincial security officials to establish complete protective measures. The official notifications have confirmed that all schools and colleges in Sindh and Punjab will not operate on February 4, 2026.

The Shab-e-Barat celebrations demonstrate the deep religious devotion of the entire nation. The community prays together while reading the Quran as they perform their daily worship to receive Allah’s mercy and blessings.
