RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Pakistan Navy has successfully rescued and evacuated 18 crew members belonging to several nationalities following a distress call from the Merchant Vessel (MV) Gold Autumn in a swift humanitarian operation.
According to the military’s media wing, the Gold Autumn was operating in the North Arabian Sea at 200 Nautical Miles (Approx 370 km) off Pakistan’s coast. The safely recovered crew belonged to China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
The ISPR said that PNS Hunain conducted a “Search and Rescue operation with high professionalism and expertise.” The ship’s team of specialists provided medical aid, assisted in firefighting, carried out damage assessment, and successfully rescued the crew, it added.

The military further said that the evacuated crew was safely transported to Karachi for medical care and repatriation to their respective countries.
“Humanitarian assistance rendered by Pakistan Navy Ship at extended ranges off Pakistan’s coast reflects Pakistan Navy’s continued resolve and commitment to always being the first responder to maritime crises in the respective Area of Responsibility,” the statement wrote.
PM Shehbaz commends Pakistan Navy
Responding to the rescue operation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the Pakistan Navy for safely rescuing 18 crew members from different countries during an emergency humanitarian relief operation in the North Arabian Sea.
The handout shared by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that the premier appreciated the professionalism, prompt response, and humanitarian spirit of the officers and men of the Pakistan Navy.
“While praising the Pakistan Navy, the Prime Minister said that on the emergency information received from the merchant vessel “Gold Autumn”, the Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain conducted a prompt and effective search and rescue operation,” it reads.
“The crew members belonging to different countries, including China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia, were safely evacuated in the operation.”
“All the personnel were shifted to Karachi, where they are being provided medical facilities, and arrangements are being made for their return to their respective countries,” it added.
The Pakistan Navy will always play its role as the first aid agency in all types of maritime emergencies within the scope of its responsibility, the handout reads.
